Tour De Cure Australia is a Tier-1 Charity and Not-For-Profit organisation with the important goal of raising money to cure cancer through their fitness and charity programs.
With only a modest budget to work with, big ambitions and limited time, RIZEN Atelier adopted unconventional methods to deliver the workplace design for Tour De Cure that was composed of end-of-life elements from various demolition sites, relocated and seamlessly stitched together to create the new headquarters in Sydney.
Although the design outcome was visually striking, this was not about beauty. Our goal was to create a remarkable workplace that placed functionality before aesthetics and designing spaces around preloved and generously donated elements such as furniture, lighting, finishes and joinery, which would otherwise have been disposed as landfill was paramount.
This typology of design and method of procurement is setting a new benchmark in the industry and is desperately needed to minimise our impact to the planet. Tour De Cure’s new workplace demonstrates that modernity can be delivered with re-used and recycled materials as we embrace a world where natural resources are scarce, landfill is rising, and costs are escalating.
Tour De Cure's generous new agile workplace is an embodiment of sustainability, circularity and social impact.
